A frog for all seasons!  Mr. Frog stands guard year ’round.  I must say, he’s a little too lenient, judging by the rabbit droppings!

February 2019 brought a late Christmas present…our new tractor, complete with backhoe and rototiller.  We named her Jane – as in Jane Deere.

Jane has made a HUGE difference in our productivity.  So glad we bit the bullet!

Summer Sunrise in the Valley

Summer in the Skykomish River valley in and around the small town of Sultan, WA is typically green and gorgeous with crisp, clean air in the morning.  Not so much the summer of 2018 when smoke from forest fires in British Columbia filled the air and made eyes burn and sent everyone indoors.  The only upside was amazing sunrises and sunsets.

This father-daughter team can really knock out some manual labor!  Clearing downed trees from the neighborhood is a regular chore following storms.  We get a lot of wind in our little corner of the world so we also get a big pile of firewood!  The record-breaking snow storm of 2019 provided more work and more wood than usual.
We put Jane to work digging a trench for new water lines out to the chicken run and gardens. Getting dirty in a ditch (or anywhere else for that matter!) has never been an issue for this girl! Notice how her hair color has changed from the picture on the left? Trying to match her shirt? We never know what color we're going to see when she shows up!
